Philip Glass - celebrates his 70th birthday this year

The Academy Award-nominated American composer is considered to be one of the most influential composers of the late-20th century. In the past 25 years Glass has composed more than twenty operas,(Satyagraha, Akhnaten, The Voyage), several motion picture soundtracks (The Hours), eight symphonies, numerous concertos, and a growing body of work for solo piano and organ. His range of collaborators include Paul Simon, Allan Ginsberg, Woody Allen, Linda Rondstadt, David Bowie and Doris Lessing to name a few. Check out his website for forthcoming concerts.
